I have a 3 year old standard Australian Shepherd. I will preface this by saying that I have been to ZAC twice prior and dealt with different Veteranarians and both times had awesome experiences. The staff gushed over my dog gave her treats and petted her and my dog reacted very positively both times. She had never had an issue with any of the 4 vet centers I have taken her to prior to ZAC (I move alot due to work). However today was a absolutely horrifying experience from the start all the way to the finish. My dog was already on edge as there was another animal already screaming in the back and it didnt help that the woman who took my dog to the back put a choker on her and asked if she bites, Australian Shepherds are very social dogs and they are very good with other animals and people of all ages. My dog LOVES all things and she even ran up to the lady excitedly when she came in. I explained that she didnt and instead of taking my leash like they normally do she took mine off and slipped the choker on. My dog didnt want to budge and she still pulled her out of the room. Obviously at this point things got a little hairy as I heard my dog screaming in the back, which is very much unlike her as she has never had any issue with any vet before. When they returned, instead of my dog walking over to me and laying down as she is trained to do. She ran in and hid behind my legs. The whole time we were there they didnt offer her any treats to calm her as they had on the previous two trips. The Vet came in and introduced herself and the lady that took my dog to the back came in yet again another first my dog was struggling to get away from both of them and she was trembling as the woman held her and she did not stop until I came to pet her to calm her down. The one lady who took my dog in the first place spent the entire time holding my dogs muzzle shut even though she never once tried to bite anyone and she was visibly discomforted by the way this lady was acting. I told her that that was unnecessary and she shot me a look and continued to hold my dogs mouth! My dog just sat there the whole time miserable. Every time either slacked their grip on her she scrambled to try to get away and jump into my arms. The Vet at this point noticed my discomfort in how they were causing my dog to react and she simply said "She didnt want to give me a stool sample for her fecal matter test" which I told her she pooped prior to coming here. They attempted to laugh it off and theybwemt to examine the lab results from the things they were checking my dog for. They came back explaining that they found something that required further medical attention, I am getting a second opinion from a family friend in Oklahoma as when the Vet was explaining it she seemed to trip her way through her explaination as she noted a few times it was triggered by stress however she told me I needed to spend another 200$ on meds to treat a "mite". When I asked her then if it was brought on by stress would it not be just stress instead of some "mite" she then tripped her way through another explanation of how the two were connected. Needless to say if the family friend finds contradicting findings I WILL be getting my money back. The lady just seemed like she was trying to take a 24 year old kid through the smokescreen to get a little extra cash. To end the visit the vet attempted to pet my dog who tried to squirm away from her and instead of respecting my dogs space she gave her two firm pats around the site my dog had just received two injections at. She also tried to tell me that my dog was overweight at 38.5 lbs which is relatively small for a full grown Australian Shepherd. If you enjoy a nice ruse and terrible bedside manner then Dr T is the lady to see. I wont be visiting again thats for sure. I dont care what kind of day youre having people are trusting you with their pets and this is a horrible representation on the other good hardworking people who make this place great.

A great place to bring your beloved pet!! They take such great care of them!

I've been bringing my animals to The Animal Center for years. I love the staff! The fact that my animals are happy when we walk through the doors is very comforting.

The Animal Center of Zachary always does a great job with any and all concerns with my pets. They have reasonable prices, very informative, helpful, sympathetic, and easy to speak to on any issue. I highly recommend them if you live in the area and are in need of an awesome vet!

Kinda pricy. But my German German Shepherds get GREAT care...
